Our Current Programs
Kids’ Explosion – Teaching our kids about the love and grace of Jesus. Weekly parties provide fun, games, music, Bible stories, t-shirts and prizes in neighborhoods all over Jackson. This program runs Feb-Apr, June- Aug, and Oct- Dec. Teens are mentored to develop leadership skills as “interns” with weekly training and opportunities to lead.
Community Gardens – “The Big Seed” - Networking people interested in gardening, and promoting gardening as a way for Jackson citizens to help provide for their own food needs. Annual Garden Giveaway providing portable or free gardens to families and a contest for the biggest vegetable plant the Saturday before Memorial Day.
Vet Quilts – Teaching sewing/quilting to Jackson Residents. Giving several hundred prayer quilts to Veterans in partnership with Kelly Trudell, a local singer/songwriter with a heart for our Armed Services. For more information visit: KellyTrudell.net
Baby Quilts – Providing quilts for the community baby showers, area shelters, and thru the Priceless Gift Toy Store. Helps young mothers know they are loved and supported. Visit Together-Difference.org
Priceless Gift Easter Baskets – Connecting Jackson’s Children with the 1,700 residents who live in our local nursing homes hoping to grow long lasting relationships between a child and a senior. The children make art at Easter time and deliver the gifts themselves.
Community Prayer – Come join us on a prayer walk, Monday thru Friday, at different locations all over our city and “walk/stomp the ground” with us (2 Kings 18) – or join in other regular prayer meetings as we meet and pray for change in our City and County. We also pray for such things as the current needs of people we know, our local and national leaders, teachers, parents, health and finances, and whatever God lays on our hearts.
City Wide Prayer Walk - Join us May 15th from 1 to 4 p.m. walking each block in our city asking God to bless and heal our land. Watch what God will do when the bride of Christ unites with one purpose.
New Jackson – New Jackson is a grassroots transformation movement of a community in unity. Be a part of bringing the Church in Jackson together to speak positive declarations and prayers over Jackson City and County. Priceless Gift Toy Store – Serving several thousand Jackson children each Christmas with recycled, home-made, and new toys - plus approximately thousands of gift baskets of personal care items. This is one of our most effective annual outreaches to our city. Each year it grows tremendously - the need is there. So is Jesus in every detail, large or small. Adopt-a-Cop – A prayer protection program for every law enforcement officer in Jackson County. Individuals, families, church and youth groups can sign up to pray for a police officer or correction officer. Ask God for their personal and family protection, and to be His heart and eyes for our city. Program is now worldwide and was started her in Jackson. Visit Adopt-a-Cop.org
Father’s Love Letter – We share 54 amazing Bible promise verses put together as a plain English and intimate message, or love letter, from God to each of us. Anyone that memorizes the letter receives a $25.00 award. Visit: FathersLoveLetter.com
Men & Women's Prison Re-entry Programs – Providing a safe and friendly place for support as people come out of the prison system and re-enter our local communities. Ministers to the children and spouses also. Ministries known as: Image Group (men) & Women Moving Forward.
Connecting to the Homeless – "Homeless Connect" is an annual event, partnering with the Jackson Interfaith Shelter, that provides an open house and trade-show of public and faith-based services available for our area homeless. 517-789-8735
Angel Food Ministry – In partnership with First Church of the Nazarene to help people help themselves. Provides low cost groceries, they can purchase for themselves with food stamps or money orders. Friends from area churches volunteer monthly to deliver to the homes of people with transportation problems. angelfoodministries.com
Cooking & Healthy Eating – Helpful healthy eating classes held each Wednesday. Learning to make changes in cooking choices to be both healthy and economic. individuals and families learn how to move one step closer to health.
Mission Wardrobe – Provides elementary age children with a new, or gently used, 5 outfit wardrobe. Calls are made by teachers or other agencies. Clothing delivered to home or school. A partnership with Acts 4:9 Church. Visit: Acts49church.blogspot.com 517 22 acts49church@yahoo.com
Mommy-n-Me – Toddlers and their young moms are invited to join us on Monday afternoons for play dates in June, July and August. We model healthy adult-children interaction. We encourage and love them.
Food Pantry Partners – Christ’s Kingdom Ministries and the City of Zion Church food pantries have partnered with us to provide food for those in need. We have worked together at Thanksgiving and Christmas to provide holiday meal boxes to Jackson’s financially hurting families. We do this in the Love of Christ.
Sisters in Ministry – We partnership with this local group who’s goal is to build up our city by providing spiritual, educational, social, and physical resources to equip women to serve the Lord as they serve their community. Annual Fall Conference, Board Meetings, and many other events share our building to help Sisters in Ministry achieve their goals. Visit: SistersinMinistry.net
Lazy B’s Ranch – Where Awesome Kids Roam. A wonderful ranch setting for kids to grow and learn integrity and character skills for life using horse riding, archery, crafts, multiple outdoor activities, campfire cooking and live music. Laundry Angels – Help a neighbor with laundry service for 1 month. A single mom with more kids then money and no car, or someone who is very ill, and has no family close. See for yourself what a difference this small act of kindness means for a struggling family!
Community Connections – Help build a network between our elderly and our children. Bring together area Activity Directors and let them share best practices and needs for volunteers with people who run children’s programs in our city.
Adopt-a-Grandparent/Grandchild – A program to pray for someone who may have no one praying or caring for them. Adopt some of our Kids’ Explosion at-risk kids for prayer coverage or let one of the kids adopt you. Also builds long term relationships.
Jackson Missionary Openings – Help the Together We Can Make a Difference ministry team continue to grow by financially supporting new missionaries working full time with us right here in Jackson County. Missionaries to Jackson raise their own support from family, friends, and local churches and businesses. Your monthly support adds up to help in a major way.
Business Training – Help Together We Can Make a Difference to develop an opportunity for our residents to be retrained, break the welfare cycle, and run a small business. Use proven ideas from Junior Achievement, and Jesus Himself, to teach a new way of thinking and self support.
Discover Your Passion – Everyone can do something. What did God have in mind when He created you? Are you busy doing it? Do you need help getting started? Everybody can do something to better themselves. We train and encourage the kind of personal growth that opens a new life for people.
